Beginner guide on how to point your domain to your cPanel/WHM Print

  • 249

In this simple guide we will show you how to point your domain to your cPanel/WHM.
Lets say you have a vps with cPanel/WHM, and you just purchased a domain name, but you are not sure how to actually point it to your cPanel/WHM

Follow these 3 simple steps:

1) Login to your WHM and create a new account. In the domain name filed, please put your domain name.
2) Now login to your domain name registrar ( the place your purchased your domain from ).
You need to create 2 hosts. ( The steps to do this differ, depending on the domain name registrar you use, please consult their documentation )
Call your first host: NS1
Call your second host: NS2
Point both NS1 and NS2 to your VPS IP address.
3) Again from your domain name registrar, we now need to change the name servers responsible for your domain, to the newly created NS1 and NS2.
( The steps to do this differ, depending on the domain name registrar you use, please consult their documentation )

Once all 3 steps are completed, you are all set. All you need to do now is wait a few hours until
All dns servers refresh globally.
